About Us
Stand-by-me provides dedicated bereavement support for children, young people and their families in North Hertfordshire and Stevenage. The charity was created after listening to the views of young people and their carers about what they would find most helpful when they experience the death of someone close to them.
Just like adults, children and young people can often find it difficult following the loss of someone special to them, but it can be hard for parents, carers and professionals to know how best to offer support. By providing clear information and practical advice we help grieving families get the help they need at the time when they need it most.
We offer information, telephone support, careful assessment of each individual need and a group programme to lessen the isolation and loneliness of a bereavement.
We have designed our website especially for children, young people and their families, as well as making information and advice about children’s grief available to the professionals who support them.
For families in North Herts and Stevenage, our innovative group support programme provides a place where children can make friends, make memories and meet other bereaved children in a safe and supportive environment. If you think your child may benefit from one of our groups, please email info@stand-by-me.org.uk for more information.
For parents and carers who wish to speak to one of our experienced team for advice, our dedicated telephone helpline is available on 07469 255163. This helpline is manned by trained staff but if we are unable to answer, please leave a message and one of our team will call you back within 48 hours.
Why not see how you can get involved or contact us with your ideas?
Parents and carers can also use our dedicated telephone advice line : 07469 255163 for further support.
