What we offer

Stand-by-me offers information, advice  and support to help children, young people and their families living in North Hertfordshire understand and manage their grief.

Bereavement and serious illness can be a confusing and frightening time. Our emotions feel difficult to control or express and our reactions can be unpredictable. There is much change and we can worry that our reactions are not normal. This is even more the case when we have children and young people to care for too. We feel powerless to help them.

Bereaved families say that if they had a chance to easily find out how their grief might affect them, what to expect and what can help in the early days after the death it would have helped them manage this difficult time better. Even though grief is unique to each person many reactions are common to all bereaved people- they are the signs that tell us and others that we are grieving.

This website provides information, suggestions and advice that we know can help. In addition, if you are a parent and you cannot find what you need on here you can ring our advice line

07469 255163 –  if we are unable to answer your call, please leave a message and we will do our best to respond within 48 hours
