Remember-me day 2017

Sunday 3rd Sept saw our 2nd Annual Remember-me day.

The event was a huge success with supporters, volunteers and donors joining with the children, young people and families who have attended our groups.

It was a great opportunity for everyone to get together, catch up and have some fun. As well as football, basket ball and rounders, we enjoyed a fantastic BBQ with food donated by local butchers and face-painting and glitter tattoo’s which went down well with both young and old.

We owe huge thanks to Steve Mills, head teacher at Whitehill School in Hitchin, who kindly allowed us to use the school, as well as Sarah Small, a teacher at Whitehill who also happens to be one of our newest volunteers.

On the day, Steve Mills presented a cheque for money raised by the school in support of Stand-by-me and we were delighted to have it received by our youngest Ambassador.

As always, our volunteers an their families helped enormously so we would like to say thank you to everyone involved for making the day such a success.

What Can You Do?

Dying Matters Awareness Week 8th to 14th May 2017

Stand-by-me,  as part of Hertfordshire Children’s Bereavement Network (HCBN), is showing its support for Dying Matters Awareness Week Campaign #Whatcanyoudo

We’re making the point that it’s really important for grieving children and families to know they have somewhere to turn: someone who will listen to them- and that person could be you.

Specialist support services like Stand-by-me depend on volunteers to help them provide support for grieving children and their families, whatever their circumstances and however they have been bereaved – helping them realise someone is listening.

Stand-by-me is currently looking for volunteers to work with bereaved children, young people & their families in North Herts and Stevenage. Why not get in touch at info@stand-by-me.org.uk to find out #Whatyoucando
