In November, we were thrilled to receive the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, often dubbed the ‘OBE for charities.’ This prestigious recognition highlights the remarkable contributions of our dedicated volunteers.

To commemorate this achievement, two of our volunteers, Sandra Blacker, Trustee – Clinical Lead, and Bobbie Dhillon, Bereavement Support Volunteer, had the privilege of attending a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace on a rainy day in May.

Despite the downpour, we were honored to represent Stand-by-me at the Palace Garden Party in acknowledgment of the KAVS bestowed upon us on November 14, 2023. We were introduced to Peter Phillips, who showed genuine interest in our charity and the support we provide to bereaved children and families. Witnessing Prince William and his supportive cousins, each holding their own umbrellas, underscored the value placed on the volunteers’ efforts by those in influential positions. It was a memorable afternoon. – Sandra

Being there and representing all Stand-by-me volunteers was a true honour and privilege, an unforgettable experience that I will always cherish. – Bobbie
