The Benski Golf Day – £2,031 Raised for Stand-by-me

Each year, a group of lifelong friends come together to honour the memory of Benny and Ski – two much-loved friends who tragically took their own lives over 30 years ago. In their honour, The Benski Cup was founded in 1995, starting as a simple golf day and growing into something truly special.
What began as a way to remember their lives has become a cherished tradition filled with laughter, stories, and lasting friendships. In recent years, the event has also taken on a new purpose: raising money for local charities. We’re proud to share that this year’s event raised an incredible £2,031.
With more than 70 players taking part – including the next generation, as our sons now join us on the course – The Benski Cup continues to unite people across ages. Though many of us grew up on the Jackmans estate, a place once seen as tough, it shaped who we are and forged bonds that time will never break.
The Benski Cup is more than just a golf day. It’s about friendship, remembrance, and community spirit.
This year, the funds raised have been donated to Stand-by-me, who are deeply grateful for the support of this group. The money will help them continue providing vital support to bereaved children and young people in our area – ensuring they don’t have to face their grief alone.
We’re truly thankful to everyone who joined and supported us this year. Together, we’re keeping Benny and Ski’s memory alive while making a real difference in our community.
