What a Month! Community Champions Raise Over £16,000 for Stand-by-me Bereavement Support
April has been nothing short of extraordinary, as a group of dedicated fundraisers came together to take on incredible challenges and raise vital funds for Stand-by-me Bereavement Support.
The month kicked off in spectacular fashion on April 2nd, with Mia Jaszewska, the charity’s Young Ambassador Project Lead, taking fundraising to new heights, literally, by completing a breathtaking 15,000-foot skydive. Her courage set the tone for what would become a truly inspiring few weeks.
Momentum continued to build on April 12th, when five remarkable individuals; Kayleigh Clayton, James Best, Hayley Ashley, Sam Watson and Sian Lawrence, took on the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Battling both the physical and mental challenge of the race, they showed incredible determination while proudly supporting the charity every step of the way.
Rounding off the month in unforgettable style, Cole Butler, Abbi Flint, Johnathan Woods and Vicky Thomson stepped up to the start line of the TCS London Marathon, one of the world’s most iconic endurance events. With thousands of runners and supporters lining the streets, the atmosphere was electric as they pushed themselves through 26.2 miles for an incredible cause.
All of the marathon runners crossed the finish line with fantastic times, a testament to their dedication and training. The fastest of the group was Cole, who completed the course in an impressive 3 hours and 44 minutes, an amazing achievement.
Collectively, these inspiring individuals have raised over £16,000 for Stand-by-me Bereavement Support.
Stand-by-me provides specialist support for children and young people who have experienced the death of a loved one. Through group work, and tailored activities, the charity helps young people process their grief, build resilience, and feel less alone during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
“We are incredibly proud of every single person who took part in these challenges. Their commitment, energy and passion have made a real difference, helping us continue to provide vital support to bereaved children and young people in our community.”
This April has shown the power of community, determination, and compassion, and the impact that can be made when people come together to support a local charity.
