Stronger Together Through Golf – Our Second Activity Day

Following the success of our first Stronger Together Through… Activity Day, we were delighted to get back out and try something completely different, this time with some of our older young people at Knebworth Golf Club.

Our Stronger Together Through Golf Activity Day gave young people the opportunity to step onto the golf course, learn a new sport with support and guidance from the team at Knebworth Golf Club, take part in different activities and challenges, and spend an enjoyable day together.

For many of the young people, golf was a completely new experience, and they embraced the challenge brilliantly!

More than learning a new sport

Our Stronger Together Through… programme was created to give bereaved children and young people opportunities to connect with others through shared activities and experiences.

While our therapeutic support remains at the heart of what we do, we also recognise how valuable it can be for young people simply to spend time with others who understand something of what they are going through.

There is no pressure to talk about their bereavement. Instead, Activity Days provide a relaxed and supportive environment where young people can have fun, try something new and enjoy being around others who get it.

Golf provided a great opportunity to do just that. Throughout the day, the young people learnt new skills, encouraged one another, challenged themselves and, most importantly, had plenty of fun.

A big hit!

The feedback at the end of the day said it all, everyone enjoyed themselves, with the young people particularly commenting on how much they had enjoyed having the opportunity to learn a new sport.

The day was filled with smiles, encouragement and some increasingly impressive golf skills! It was fantastic to see the young people growing in confidence as the day progressed and creating positive new memories together.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Knebworth Golf Club and everyone involved in making the day possible. Their support helped us provide another fantastic experience for the children and young people we work with.

Our Stronger Together Through… Activity Days are just beginning, and we’re excited about the possibilities ahead. By offering a range of activities – from sport and music to creative, wellbeing, nature and team-building experiences – we hope there will be something to appeal to every young person.

Two Activity Days down… and we can’t wait to see what we try next!

If your child or young person has been bereaved and would be interested in attending a future Stronger Together Through… Activity Day, you can register your interest with Stand-by-me and we will be in touch when new dates and activities become available.
