Welwyn Tennis Club supports Stand-by-me as Charity of the Year
We were delighted to join our friends at Welwyn Tennis Club on Sunday 11th October for their fantastic Mini Mac Event, as part of the club’s support for Stand-by-me as their Charity of the Year.
It was a brilliant opportunity to meet club members, raise awareness of our work and talk about the support we provide to bereaved children, young people and their families across North Hertfordshire and Stevenage.
Devon shares his Stand-by-me journey
One of the highlights of the day came from our wonderful Young Ambassador, Devon, who spoke to those attending about his own experience of bereavement and his journey with Stand-by-me.
Devon shared how Stand-by-me has supported him and spoke about the difference that having the right support at the right time can make to a young person following the death of someone important to them.
Our Young Ambassadors are at the heart of so much of what we do. By sharing their experiences and using their voices to help others understand childhood bereavement, they play an important role in shaping our work and raising awareness of why specialist support matters.
We are incredibly proud of Devon for speaking so openly and confidently, and very grateful to everyone at Welwyn Tennis Club for giving him such a warm welcome.
More than fundraising
We are hugely grateful to Welwyn Tennis Club for choosing Stand-by-me as their Charity of the Year.
Partnerships like this mean so much to a small local charity. As well as raising vital funds to help us continue providing our services free of charge, they give us opportunities to reach new people, raise awareness of childhood bereavement and make sure more families know that support is available when they need it.
We’re looking forward to continuing to work alongside Welwyn Tennis Club over the coming year and seeing where this fantastic partnership takes us.
